This film is a must-see for Andrew McCarthy's fans. Compared to his first film "Class", this character 18-year-old Arthur/Lola has certainly a lot more responsibility.
The film itself is probably the coolest kid's film I've ever seen. They're all such rebels. It's a fantasy set in the real world - good friends playing house. Maybe orphans are more mature than normal kids. There's so much love, rebelion and sense/reason at the same time! It's rebelious in a sweet way. But it works out fine.
Andrew McCarthy is a very soulful actor. I guess the girls in the audience will be very attracted to his sensitiveness. Arthur's unusual secret job has its ridiculousness. But his maturity, his kindness, his wits, his creativity, his loving/caring, his responsibleness will certainly make girls fall for him.
Although he's 18, Arthur's still a kid. He's a lonely orphan, having a weird job and taking care of 4 other kids. They've got problems, but they are family problems now. He's stressed. You feel like you want to help him and love him.
