Plot Summary:A top notch seven-member team of doctors and nurses known as "Team Batista" are Tojo University Hospital's pride and joy. The medical team performs a prominent heart surgery known as the Batista Operation which has a normal 60% success rate, but the team has consecutively pulled off twenty six successful surgeries. However, the streak is broken after a string of three procedures end in their patients' deaths. Consequently, an internal investigation is launched with hospital therapist Kohei Taguchi in charge of uncovering the truth behind the incidents. When Taguchi is unable to find any definitive information, the deaths are labeled as unexplainable accidents. The evaluation is subsequently dismissed by Keisuke Shiratori, an investigator with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, who re-launches the investigation on the basis that the deaths were actually murders.
东城大学附属医院拥有一支在业界享有极高口碑的七人精英小组——巴提斯塔团队，该团队由自美国学成归来的心血管外科医生桐生恭一（伊原刚志 饰）领军，尤其擅长号称“巴提斯塔”的心脏缩小手术，此前他们已经成功为27名患者实施过该手术，但接下来的3次手术患者全部死于手术台上，一时间人心惶惶。为了弄清手术失败的真相，院长高阶权太（林隆三 饰）指派心理治疗内科的医生田口公平（伊藤淳史 饰）进行调查。人轻言微的田口自然摸不清头绪，而在此期间厚生劳动省的官员白鸟圭辅（仲村亨 饰）也参与进来。巴提斯塔接连失败的真相慢慢浮出水面…… 本片根据现役医师海堂尊的原作改编，此前曾被改编成电影搬上银幕。
