The Scarlet letter was adapted from the novel of the same name, however branded with “made in Hollywood”. There were typically commercial elements audiences could find in the movie, such as romance, action and happy ending. One point attracting me to watch from beginning to the end was heroine who had won the huge fame with her successes in Ghost. She shaped the role of Hide brave and independent image. Audiences were impressed that this woman was attached label with “A” originally means adultery all the time, however within strong belief that god was in her side. Ironically, her ex-husband who claimed her daughter was evil’s daughter committed the murder with barbarian way. As the movie uncovered A’s real meaning out of heroine in the end, the story lightened the old theme: God is fair, so people can never distinguish evil and angel by race, sex or background. To some degree, the heroine from 17th century was more like the modern female.
