Plot Summary:A documentary film about the informal movement known in Czech as 'tramping'. 'Amerika' tells the story of the men and women that, in the search of a 'better and freer world', for decades adopted the lifestyle and music of the old American 'Wild West' in the Czech Republic.
A nontraditional documentary film or a staged meditation? However we perceive this story of a couple wandering through the Czech countryside, we can best experience it by yielding to the calm tempo of their journey through the shady woods. Amerika isn’t a portrait of specific individuals but rather a probe into the Czech phenomenon of “tramping”.
