The film uses the low-contrast to achieve a more naturalistic lighting, and a long shot in this frame to depict character and his surroundings.

After greeting each other,the camera moves forward with 3 close-ups of both Jack and Tommy. The background music continues, however the street noises fade away and makes an effort for the audience to focus on the conversation. In the living room, Vicky stands up and calls Tommy when she notices his leaving. Her voice serves as an intention to hold audiences attention on the continuous narrative. As in the some shot, we can see Jack is beginning to stare at Vicky. This indicates that his mind has diverted from his worries before the fight to irrational jealousies toward his wife. The setting in this scene make it possible for Jack to clearly see Vicky in the living room and the outgoing guests at the door, hence to prepare for the next plot.
