Qy • 甜心俏佳人第一季:Playing Cool

When I was watching a part of the fifth season of Ally Mcbeal, I felt like taking down some of my thoughts.
It’s a bit lonely spending the whole Saturday evening at home, accompanied only by books and DVDs. But I’ll feel bad if I go out and meet someone with a nervous and absent state of mind (correct me if it’s wrong in grammar).
Ally, a successful, beautiful 31-year-old lawyer, was attracted to a new comer to her law firm, an absolutely handsome young guy named Shawn. But she knew they were not possible to have a future because he was just a good looking boy, not a man she needed. Added to that, he had an ex-girlfriend, Jenny, who happened to be Ally’s new friend.
It could be really hard to repress one’s feelings. I wished she could be brave enough to admit her desires to Shawn. Finally she did. Obviously Shawn was attracted to her, too. But when their relationship was about to take a step forward, to my disappointment, she said No to his ardor. Poor Shawn.
Cool Ally. She was just afraid of falling in love with him and taking the relationship serious. They could be passionate lovers for a while. Could he satisfy her as a good husband and father? Of course not.
But why think so much and spoil the fun? Why not let it happen, Ally? It might be much easier to enjoy the pleasures. There’s nothing wrong with loving a younger guy, anyway. (Jenny’s 50-year-old mom even won the suit against her boss who fired her for her engagement with a 22-year-old handsome boy. As long as lovers are clear about what they really want from each other, they can justify their relationship. )
Their story went up and down. Shawn ended up back with Jenny, a less good-looking young lawyer. (I have no idea why a beautiful guy always ends up with a less beautiful lady :p)
Thanks to her giving up the chance with Shawn，Shawn and Jenny still kept their “loyalty” to each other.
In the end, I understood why Ally held back her feelings. I had to agree she did the right thing.
She was nothing but cool.
Playing cool is tough.
